Sharing love for Irish dancing with all people ( ANAM CARA IS GAELIC FOR "SOUL FRIENDS" )
We are an Irish performance dance group in Birmingham, Alabama. Our group consist of members
from 8 to 17 years old. We do not compete at Irish dance competitions at the present time, but devote
our attention on performances in order to entertain the public . Our primary purpose is to promote
Irish culture through dancing in various local functions . Sharing our love for Irish dancing with an
audience, and seeing the enjoyment it brings to their faces, is what makes us happy. The members of
Anam Cara are close friends or siblings who danced together at various Irish step dancing schools.Anam
Cara means soul friends, which is why we have come together. Each member has received instruction
from a variety of instructors and we are indebted to them for helping us grow.We embarked on this
journey to find the fun and friendship of dancing a reel or jig and sharing that joy with others.Thanks
